Made from the spirit of real Marula fruit, Amarula is South Africa's number one globally awarded cream liqueur. Pulped marula fruit is fermented and distilled to create marula spirit before being aged in French Oak barrels for two years before cream being added to create the smooth velvety liqueur. The Marula tree is also known as the elephant tree, with elephants travelling for miles to feast on this fruit and this is why the Amarula Trust was created in 2008 with the aim to safeguard the African elephants. As well as its range of flavours, Amarula most recently created a vegan alternative and an Amarula gin.
